This August 21st we’re going to take the next big step at the garden- it’s time to build! We’ve got plans for a garden shed where we can store our tools, pots, watering equipment, potting soil etc. Tony Lee (aka Keanna and Kieron’s dad) designed a functional shed with a small front porch that will also act as a lemonade stand for all sorts of kid-fun. We’re also building some compost boxes and will repair one of our donated tables so its a bit steadier.

Volunteer builders needed! We need about 10 folks with building skills and a few more to help out feeding, watering the crew, errands etc.  Can you help? Do you know a neighbour with building skills who might be able to donate a couple of hours to our neighbourhood garden? Thank-you to Steve Tarrant for stepping up to lead the shed building.   Steve is a neighbourhood garden club member (he and Madoka’s daughter Evelyn will be 1 year old in November so we look forward to seeing her in kindergarten at Garibaldi in a few years.) Volunteers me an email  at (fyi I won’t be checking email August 2 until 9th).

Materials needed too! The garden club kids made about $90 at our small plant sale this spring and for the balance we’re hoping we’ll be awarded a small neighbourhood grant via Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House. Wish us luck! We’re also looking for donations and any salvaged materials. Here’s the list of what we need: To donate, please contact Terry at 778-288-7533 or

Help us take the next step. Please forward this post onto any friends and neighbours who can help us build the dream!
